Vitamin K1 is the PLANT form of vitamin K (found in green leafy vegetables). Its primary role: activating clotting factors (II, VII, IX, X). K1 is poorly redistributed to bone and vascular tissue — K2 is superior for extrahepatic effects (bone, arteries). K1 is the antidote for warfarin overdose (IV phytonadione). For clotting: K1 sufficient from diet. For bone/cardiovascular: K2 (MK-7) is preferred. --- *Reviewed by the Dose AI Research Team and Clinical Advisory Board* *Last updated: 2026-04-06*
