Sulbutiamine is a synthetic lipophilic dimer of thiamine (vitamin B1) that crosses the BBB more efficiently than regular thiamine. Developed in Japan for asthenia (chronic fatigue). A 2003 study found 400mg/day reduced fatigue in post-infectious asthenia. Also increases thiamine triphosphate in brain — a neuromodulator distinct from regular thiamine pyrophosphate (the coenzyme form). Used in nootropic stacks for focus and mood. Tolerance develops within 10 days — cycle 5 days on / 2 days off. Dose: 200-600mg/day. --- *Reviewed by the Dose AI Research Team and Clinical Advisory Board* *Last updated: 2026-04-06*
