SCAN DOSE SUMMARY

Damiana is a Mexican/Central American herb traditionally used as an aphrodisiac and mood enhancer. Contains apigenin and pinocembrin (aromatase inhibitors) plus damianin. Very limited clinical data — one 2009 study combined damiana with yerba mate and guarana for weight loss (modest effect). The aphrodisiac reputation is based entirely on traditional use with NO clinical evidence. May contain cyanogenic glycosides at high doses. Our assessment: traditional use only, no clinical evidence for any claim. --- *Reviewed by the Dose AI Research Team and Clinical Advisory Board* *Last updated: 2026-04-06*
