Creatine HCl

MODERATE EVIDENCEAmino AcidLast updated

SCAN DOSE SUMMARY

Creatine HCl is a hydrochloride salt of creatine marketed as 'more soluble — smaller dose needed.' It IS more water-soluble (38x vs monohydrate), but NO human study has shown it's more effective per gram than creatine monohydrate. The only advantage: less water retention and GI bloating at equal doses. But monohydrate is the most studied sports supplement in history with 500+ studies. Our assessment: use monohydrate unless GI issues are limiting. Save your money. --- *Reviewed by the Dose AI Research Team and Clinical Advisory Board* *Last updated: 2026-04-06*
