SCAN DOSE SUMMARY

Artemisia absinthium contains artemisinin (the compound that won the 2015 Nobel Prize for malaria treatment). In supplement form, wormwood is used for SIBO (small intestinal bacterial overgrowth) — a 2014 Johns Hopkins study found herbal therapy including wormwood was equally effective as rifaximin for SIBO. Also: traditional anti-parasitic. CAUTION: contains thujone at high doses — neurotoxic (the 'madness' attributed to absinthe drinking). Limit duration of use. Dose: 500-1,500mg/day for 4-6 week courses. --- *Reviewed by the Dose AI Research Team and Clinical Advisory Board* *Last updated: 2026-04-06*
