SCAN DOSE SUMMARY

Triphala is a 3-fruit Ayurvedic formula (Amla + Haritaki + Bibhitaki) used for over 1,000 years as a gentle bowel regulator. Unlike stimulant laxatives (senna, cascara), triphala is a prokinetic that strengthens peristalsis rather than irritating the colon. A 2017 RCT found triphala extract improved constipation scores by 65% and bowel frequency by 31%. Also has potent antioxidant activity (highest ORAC of any traditional formula) and anti-biofilm effects against oral pathogens. The three fruits target different GI zones: amla (stomach), haritaki (small intestine), bibhitaki (colon). Dose: 500-1,000mg 2x/day. --- *Reviewed by the Dose AI Research Team and Clinical Advisory Board* *Last updated: 2026-04-06*
