Royal jelly is the exclusive food of queen bees — composed of proteins (MRJPs), fatty acids (10-HDA), and royalactin. 10-HDA (10-hydroxy-2-decenoic acid) is the unique fatty acid with anti-inflammatory and HDAC inhibitory activity. Clinical evidence: royal jelly (3g/day, 6 months) improved total cholesterol by 11% and LDL by 4% in a 2007 Japanese study. Also improved menopausal symptoms and glucose tolerance. ALLERGY RISK: multiple case reports of fatal anaphylaxis in atopic individuals. Bee allergy screening recommended. Not recommended for anyone with bee/pollen allergies. --- *Reviewed by the Dose AI Research Team and Clinical Advisory Board* *Last updated: 2026-04-06*
