Polydextrose

MODERATE EVIDENCESupplementLast updated

SCAN DOSE SUMMARY

Polydextrose is a synthetic soluble fiber (randomly polymerized glucose + sorbitol + citric acid). Functions as a prebiotic, increases satiety, and is approved as a dietary fiber. 12g/day increased Bifidobacterium and reduced hunger. Very well-tolerated GI — less gas/bloating than inulin/FOS. Used in food manufacturing as sugar/fat replacer (1 kcal/g). STA-LITE® and Litesse® are commercial brands. The 'synthetic' origin shouldn't deter — it's biochemically indistinguishable from natural soluble fiber. --- *Reviewed by the Dose AI Research Team and Clinical Advisory Board* *Last updated: 2026-04-06*
