Pantethine is the active form of pantothenic acid (B5) — a CoA precursor. 600-900mg/day reduced total cholesterol by 11% and LDL by 13% in multiple studies. The mechanism: pantethine increases CoA availability in the liver, enhancing fatty acid oxidation. It's distinct from pantothenic acid (inactive until converted). Pantesin® is the branded form. Better for cholesterol than regular B5. --- *Reviewed by the Dose AI Research Team and Clinical Advisory Board* *Last updated: 2026-04-06*
